One Mom's Strategies for the Holidays

December 1, 2014

We all have strategies to help us during the holidays. Thanks to Annie for sharing hers!

We are pretty lucky my parents live only 5 mins away so if there are any major breakdowns it's no big deal to run home.

When we are going some place like his grandparents, that he gets excited about I only tell him right before we leave otherwise he is fixated on it and may get upset if we don't leave right away.

I always ask my mom when we are eating and when she expects everyone there because he always has a time limit before he starts asking to go home and I want him to have a good time with his cousins.

If I know he is having a good time but I know it's routine for him to ask to go home after a certain amount of time I will set the timer on the iPad or phone. Jack will stare at it for a minute or two and then go back to playing.

Happy Holidays,
